  • Yes they did do away with, right after I joined few weeks ago. They sent an email saying that my membership was good until the following year but that silver was no longer going to be available.

This is the message I got from PSA last month. Thank you for your continued support of PSA and PSA/DNA. Since you are a valued member of our Collectos Club, I would like to offer you the opportunity to take advantage of a renewal special that is primarily for Silver members, but applies to Gold and Platinum members as well.

Effective May 19, 2010, the PSA Collectors Club Silver membership level will no longer be available. However, your current membership will be honored until the date of expiration. Simply put, while the Silver level offered important benefits like direct submission privileges, monthly grading specials, and online Price Guide and Population Report, it did not provide the full range of benefits our company would like to offer all Collectors Club members. So as a gesture of appreciation to our current Silver members, we will send you a monthly issue of Sports Market Report (SMR) – the most respected price guide and information resource in the hobby – for the duration of your membership at no charge.

Now, in addition to the Silver membership benefits, ALL Collectors Club members will enjoy free submissions, the monthly SMR, and the ultimate coffee table book for baseball card collectors, The T206 Collection – The Players and Their Stories.

ALL current members (Silver, Gold and Platinum) are encouraged to take advantage of our PSA renewal special. The special adds an additional $10 discount off the already-discounted renewal fees. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since your last membership expired or how much time you have left on your current membership; this offer is for you. And when you consider the value of the submission vouchers, plus the SMR each month and the T206 Collection book, it’s hard to imagine why anybody would not want to have a Gold or Platinum PSA Collectors Club membership. The membership pays for itself and then some.

The table below summarizes the benefits Gold and Platinum members receive (in addition to the features that were included in the Silver membership):

Membership Level Price Grading Voucher Sports Market Report Hobby Book Total Value
    (including other benefits)
    Gold $90(was $100) 6 Free Submissions ($90 value) 12 issues ($49 value) $38 Value $217+
    Platinum $169 (was $179) 15 Free Submissions ($225 value) 12 issues ($49 value) $38 Value $352+

*International membership renewal special: Gold $110 (was $120); Platinum $189 (was $199).

This offer expires August 9, 2010. Don’t miss out on these additional savings – renew now! Just call Customer Service at (800) 325-1121 and mention the PSA Renewal Special.

    Sincerely,

    Joe

Yeah all the books and SMR are junk to me I really have no interest in that stuff...

I just want to submit some cards and nothing high end.. just a bunch of "80's crap"

my membership just ran out too and i was looking for the silver option. The only thing i use is the pop report and zero interest in the other extras. That sucks they took away the silver option.

Do you have to have an active membership to submit?

The reason I ask ..... is that I have a submission that was rec'd by PSA before my membership expired.
My membership expired a couple days back and they have had my submission a couple weeks now.
Just kind of curios on that.

    Thanks for any info.

They will honor your submission based on the date they receive it, IIRC. Either date received or postmark date - did exactly that with my Nov submission.

They need to do away with the membership. It's there for money and to cross check your submissions.image
