Everyone agrees it was the wrong call, that play in that situation aren't you giving a little to the pitcher, he should have been ready to call out as soon as it was hit.....had the hand signal locked in..............
I think Cabrera blew it..................actually
Why wouldn't he let the secondbaseman field it as a routine grounder.............he should have been pissed!!!
I thought it was interesting that the runner put his hands right on top of his head as to say "Oh my God" he blew the call in this situation--I'm embarrassed.
<< <i>Just curious are you Ken Singleton? I saw your post b4 the game and Mr. Singleton pretty much said the same thing nearly word for word. Just curious... >>
Nope, just a regular Joe.
Not sure if I'm just having one of those bi-polar days, but seeing footage of Joyce and Galarraga having that moment at home plate today is plenty enough to tug on my heart-strings.
Situations like this can easily bring out the worst in a lot of people, but not this time. Joyce, in particular, seems to have done everything right since that game ended. And Galarraga looked downright humbled when he accepted that car. These guys have actually made me slightly less cynical about the world.
I will always argue on the side of net improvements to the sports I love, but as far as crappy calls ruining a game goes, this scenario has ended about as well as one could expect. If we get a little bit more replay because of it, all the better.
nice wish list!! No on Ichiro..... and i say give each manager 1 or 2 challenges, like in other sports. Also, we can do away with so many inter-divisional matchups... playing each team in yr division 18 times is rather unfair and pointless..... especially if you are Baltimore!!! While yr at it, bring Houston over to the AL West and even up both leagues.... or better yet, bring Milwaukee back to the AL!!

<< <i>Cabrera barking at him in between every pitch after that was hysterical. >>
Are you sure that wasn't just his stomach growling? I mean, it had probably been 3 hours or so since his last cheeseburger.
<< <i>Why was Cabrera so far off of first?? >>

1. No Instant Replay. Add more umpires if necessary, like post-season.
2. Do away with the DH.
3. Bigger fields.
4. More doubleheaders.
5. Discount tix for children under 10.
6. Limit areas where Beer can be consumed, and keep the drunks away from the kids.
7. Limit use of body armor for batters.
8. Raise the mound back to 1968 standards.
9. Shorten season to 156 games and remove one round of playoffs.
10. More than one hit batsmen in a game above the shoulders is automatic ejection and suspension for pitcher and manager.
11. Less interleague games, but still have a few.
12. All-Star Game winner should not determine W.S. home field.
13. Make Ichiro the Commissioner.
14. No music in between batters.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
