While obviously not a Morgan dollar, it's a copy of a pattern dollar from that year.

I have seen, in hand, a number Chinese replica Buffalo nickels that do not have the required "COPY" or "REPLICA" on the coin. Other than the somewhat odd color these could be very deceptive. They, too, are appearing all over ebay.

I don't think it's any better than any other chinese fake coin product. Looks like a pretty poor copy to me like all the products from China. These are more of an annoyance and not a serious threat to the hobby.

Yes, yes, yes, we all know it's fake and they are all over ebay.

This listing caught my eye because it appears the seller thinks it's real and the location is the U.S.
    Many happy BST transactions

Of course the really best counterfeits are the ones we haven't yet recognized and so don't know about yet. Are any of them out there already awaiting discovery, perhaps even inside TPG slabs? Or if not, how much more time do we have before advancing technology allows precision duplication of certain types of coins? Which are the best candidates for illicit reproduction, might they be Lincoln cents such as 1909 S VDB?
