I continue to believe it is NOT good for the shorterm value of this issue to see as many of them come to auction this year as we have seen in the first six months. Those who can afford a $50k+ example will demand ONLY the highest quality and grade. Those who will struggle to afford a $10k to $20k example will hold off hoping for lower pricing down the road. Those in the middle at $25k to $50k will "dream" of aquiring a full red example in 64+ or 65 and may "get lucky".
If it is true that only 150 to 200 of these coins currently exist, and in my opinion, that may be on the high side, then waiting for the ideal example for your collection may be a wait in futility. There have been recent years in which less than five have come to auction and I have not seen ANY PCGS or NGC slabbed example advertised for sale in a numismatic publication in a number of years. Good luck to anyone going after the one in Baltimore or the PR65RD example in Long Beach this Thursday Steve
I wonder how many have been made from raw lately. Has anyone heard or found one in dealer stock that was missed? A friend of mine cherried a 1909 P MPL a few years ago at the KC Monthly show.

The Long Beach 1909VDB MPL in PCGS PR65RD went for $37,375 with the juice. This is well under the PCGS guide price of $60k and indicates a possible revision of pricing of these coins coming up. Next one up is in Baltimore in a few weeks. Steve

<< <i>I can only dream of having one of these proofs one of these days but all I can say is wow. >>
Exactly!! I saw this one during lot viewing at Long Beach and it was pretty cool... sure it wasn't a perfect coin, but with not that many of the out there, I would be proud to own any example!
