Help - 1949 Ted Williams

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and looking for information on two baseballs given to me as a child by my father. Each is signed by the 1949 Boston Red Sox, including Ted Williams on the "sweet spot". I am not a sports memorabilia collector so cannot assess their condition, but can say that each ball has yellowed with age but is in otherwise good condition, with Williams's signature clear and legible.

I'd like to get a basic value range on something like this, to determine if I should pursue an appraisal for possible sale of one of the balls. Can anyone venture a guess? And if I should get it appraised, who do people recommend I use for appraisal of an autographed ball?

Thanks,
ToddM

I had a similar ball about 10 years ago, it was the 1948 Red Sox. I was able to conclusively date it by the signatures on the ball and the player's time with the team. There was only one year that overlapped with all the sigs. I bought it in the $250 range and sold it for $450. The value should be pretty stable, I would guess in the $500 range. Yellowing is normal, it is best to be on an Official Major League ball, and would carry a slight premium if it is, more of a negative if it isn't.

Post some scans if you can. Pics would be OK too. You may even find a buyer here if it is nice.
