1963 Pepsi Cola Colt .45's Panels Set

I was thrilled to win a Carl Warwick PSA 6.5 in the recent Legendary Auction and some other Pepsi panels to complete my set. The Warwick is a rare panel. My good friend, Mark Hellman, also completed his set with a Warwick from the Legendary auction as well. This regional set is very tough to find and it was collected by some of us in Texas back in 1963 the year after the Colt .45's became an expansion team in Houston. The John Bateman panel is thought not to exist, therefore it is not part of the set.

About this set: This is a very limited baseball card collectible. I have not met hardly any other collectors who collect this set. Mark Hellman, my friend and fellow collector, is one of those collectors who does collect these cards. I grew up in Texas when the original Houston Colt .45's became an expansion team. I collected these panels as a kid. My friends and I would ride our bikes to the local service station to pick up these panels off of the cartons of Pepsi. The owner knew us so he let us have as many as we wanted. A few of them survived my childhood all these years and here they are. I also have acquired a few of these through eBay. It is exciting when certain baseball cards, even regionals, light that collecting fire.

It was an incredibly nice set when I saw it a few years ago, with all the upgrades I'm sure it's incredible. All the highest graded and most 1 of 1's, seems like a prime candidate for regional set of the year.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Congratulations on completing a rare set. Good story too.
