1824 half dollar?

Is there an 1824/4 half dollar variety? If so, any pics? Any premium on a VG example? I do not have the coin yet but saw it at a coin shop.

There is an 1824/4, and also an 1824/1. As varieties, neither one is especially rare. However, there are individual Overton varieties that may well be quite rare and worth a premium. The O-102 variety is one of those.

There were several overdates in 1824.The 1824/1, 1824/4 and 1824 over various dates are all fairly easy to obtain.A vg example might be worth $100 tops.

The coin I was looking at had only half of the 45 degree angle of the four to the west about one quarter the width of the four.

About like / 4 with only about half the length of the 4!

It could just be a long tick though.

What book would you recommend for all the Overton half varities? Its latest version?

    Thanks,
