Anyone ever have success with dime bank boxes?

..finding silver or whatever else interesting? Just checked my bank statements and boom direct deposit check is in there. Had thought about doing it last week but I didn't have enough cash so I went with the cent box instead. The teller looked at me funny when I asked for the cent box I wonder what her reaction will be when I ask for a $250 box

If I just tell them "Don't worry, I'm not brining these back here", will their look of disgust and worry change?

I used to get bags ($1000) with moderate success. I would usually find 7-10 silvers. This was 6-7 years ago though.

I've looked through about $200 worth of rolls lately, but nothing very interesting, except trying to build a basic clad set. The dimes are in much better condition than the quarters of the same age.

Maybe I'll just go blow some money at the local coin shop instead

Better odds with halves - they don't circulate, so less eyes have seen them. They just get moved from the pocket or purse into drawers and jars and then make their way back to the bank when hard times hit.

if you can't find a way to send them into a change machine somewhere for free, then you are better off keeping your mouth shut and just depositing them in another branch. They don't like sitting on change any more than you do.
