The first vestiges of the auction coins are now on Heritage in their Future Auctions sections. So far, only about 20 or so have images posted and only the 01-S seems to have a complete description. I really look forward to the sale and the catalog.

All descriptions are now completed. The work that Mark B at Heritage has done is phenomenal in preparation of the lot descriptions. I really think this will be a keepsake auction catalog, a defining reference and catalog on mint state Barber Halves.

Just another five weeks to go for this sale.

This is a great thread and really made me think about my own collecting goals, although no where in the same world as the collections being discussed it still becomes relavant. Thanks for the replies and insight, so much coin knowledge brought together on one forum and its free. If I didn't read this thread I would have missed out on alot of great perspective.

I apologize if someone has already provided a LINK to the collection.
Secondly, I just went through the pics and they are many near superb and superb examples in the set.
Having done so and judging from a couple of the pics I had questions towards the strikes of those coins but they're just pictures.
The thing that was really disturbing, was a heavy carbon spot on one of those coins. How does a coin get a Secure Plus designation with a mark like that? Granted, I haven't seen the coin in hand but a dark spot on a coin is a dark spot.

The set is now up on the Heritage web site and early bidding has started. A small number of the coins also have video descriptions. Really looking forward to my trip to Boston.

    I have gone thru the Duckor collection in some detail;
I throughly enjoyed the Video of the Micro O - and its
good to see Win Callender again. The write up in the catalog
lists all of the known Micro O's - but - I for one do not know
the location of the MS 67.

    Any idea's ?

MFH - Kevin Lipton bought it out of a ANR sale a few years back. It originally came from the Quellar collection.

Stewart. the Queller coin was previously the James Stack coin, and I think that's noted in the condition census put together for the upcoming Duckor Sale.

We are still about two weeks out from the live auction, and the bids already are close to $750K for the 74 coins! If any of them would only go for so cheap!!

    Well,

The set sold at auction and brought about $2.2 million with the buyer's fee. As most predicted, the 04-S went for the most money, but I thought the micro O would be second. However, the 05-P went for almost as much as the 04-S. There were some really incredible coins and the auction price results reflects great coins and competition for them. I am pleased I picked off some of them that will go into my set.

This may have been the first real test of how coins with the Plus designation will do at auction since there were something like 20-24 such coins. My overall impression is that coins receiving the Plus grades did very well. They may have done as well or nearly so without the Plus grades, but how would we know?

Anyway, congratulations to the Duckors on the sale of their set and the great results!
