I've finally completed a set of "Penny Black" medals in various metals
(copper, silver, gilt, frosted silver and gold).
A tip of the hat to TheBoz11 who started me off with the copper Carnarvon award medal.
The rest are BHM 1794, BHM 1775, BHM 1885 and BHM 1981, respectively. The frosted
silver Royal Society medal is a bit of an oddball in that it is 73mm rather than 55mm and has a
disproportionately large bust of Victoria.

NICK,,, The recipient of the awards name is on the Edge, and the reverse inscription is changed for Area of award. Mine is for Science and Art. They were given out over several years , but the Date on the medal stayed the same and the Award date was included on the edge inscription.
