GDP 20K seems like a lot to ask for this halfpenny...

It's just a filled die, right?

I never pay too much for my tokens...but every now and then I may buy them too soon.

Looks like it. I'd say 1862.

Ignoring whether he is right or wrong, £20K is silly. If he took the time to check sales data from the past five years he would have noticed established things like the 181 half crown in Adams or the 18 copper penny in Baldwin's 44, both of which sold in the region of £1K hammer for coins that had minimal friction and a decent provenance. These two and others aren't listed in Spink's tome either. Even if this turned out to be genuinely struck without the final digit (which I don't believe) he is still out by an order of magnitude and more in the pricing.

Try 50p - reasonable given it has free P&P and is an error of sorts though has been cleaned and is otherwise undesirable. Otherwise you would be looking to be paid to take it off his hands. It is the sort of grade item that plagues bulk lots in auctions.

    I wouldn't pay £20 for it!
