Yes. It's authentic and had an overall nice and pleasing appearance, IMHO- chopmark and all.

Raw trade dollar- sells cheap to those that identify it as genuine + eBay/Paypal buyers protection + Canadian seller = no risk.

Even though the pictures are so so I thought I could tell

    If it was real
If the Chop mark was real
    condition
    Luster
    Originalty
strike(77's are known to be weak)
    die pair
    die state

I will say what I thought if a little while, what do you all see?

I think the coin is real and very well struck for a 77-P.I have seen very few with fully struck stars and head detail. Also fairly rare chopmarked as are all Philadelphia minted Trade dollars.I meant to bid,but forgot. After closely studying the photos,I'm concerned that there may be some graffiti on the obverse just between star 10 and the left elbow.

The repunched star #13 is a sure sign of authenticity. Winner!

    Very Rare 1877 DDO FS-101

High Res Picture of the finest one known

I have the coin in hand and am as sure as one could be it will grade AU53(+or-) Chop Mark DDO FS-101. Might be the only known chop mark example, but will have to look into that. If it had to be chop marked that is about as choice as it gets. The luster and original skin are great too.

I'm not familiar with this one.
Please describe where we find the doubling. Is it within the berries?

Doubled die trade dollars are fairly rare. However, collectors of doubled die trade dollars are even rarer. image

Looking at the picture of mine as the PCGS one is a later die state, The ropes around the hay bail are rotated every one of the wheat stalks and the last 4 or 5 stars. Also do to their incused nature the strongest doubling is in Liberty + ribbon and in god we trust + ribbon. It pops much better in hand. Little things like 2 almost complete B's in liberty are missed in pictures.

The doubling actually makes the wheat look better.

There is another lesser doubled die variety of 1877, which has features similar(doubled LIBERTY, doubled wheat stalks) to your FS-101. I placed a PCGS-62 with Don Rinkor last year.

    TDN,

    I resemble that remark!!!!!!

Crypto found a great one...the 77 DDO is quite difficult to locate. I have never seen one with a Chopmark until this one. As far as I am aware, there is just one DDO variety for 77. The census that I am aware of is 63, 62, 61 (one each) and an AU or two. I have seen several in low grade and cleaned. Congrats to Crypto.
