Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Excellent article - well written and well researched. Thank you for posting. He had me hooked when I read this part of the article. He obviously has no axe to grind, and is not pandering, spamming, or catering to anyone:
"I realize, of course, that most collectors cannot afford to buy Great Rarities or gem quality, 19th century, moderately rare coins. For those with relatively limited budgets in this regard, I recommend circulated 19th century coins, with natural toning. I believe that circulated Capped Bust Quarters, Draped Bust halves, Liberty Seated coins of almost all types, and Liberty Head Half Eagles, among many others, represent excellent values for collectors, provided that these have honest wear, are reasonably problem-free for their respective grades, and, importantly, exhibit appealing natural toning."
The exciting news in reference to the amazing Steve Duckor Barber Halves is that, in fact, they will be auctioned off at the ANA!! This should prove to be another world class spectacular competitive auction. Every piece is unique and "Duckor-ish".
Steve's coins are ALL Syrup. Every one. I was the jug. He's the entire stand of maple trees!
Good luck to my best friend, my mentor and as fine of a collector as there's ever been when it comes to quality. Steve's coins are among the few that numismatic history will refer to forever.
Fret not....the best is still deep in the vault. THE SAINTS!

Actually the article says Duckor"s Barber Halves will be auctioned at next year's FUN show in January. I'm not sure which is correct.
Oh...I also think Greg is an excellent writer. From an interestingly different perspective, he's done some extensive interviews woth me and his accuracy in quoting me and my philosophy was very reliable. For that I give him praise.
I very much appreciate the attention that has been paid to my writings on the PCGS Message Boards. The kind words that have been put forth by several participants in this thread are wonderful. Thank you.
Although it is true that Dr. Duckor has formed the all-time greatest collection of Barber halves, there is a lot of other material covered in my first Coin Rarities weekly column, including reports regarding1854-O and 1856-O Double Eagles, a fresh 1876-CC 20c piece, a 1901 Morgan that sold for more than $500k, etc. Are any of the readers of this thread interested in openly discussing any of these other topics?
As for the auction of Duckor’s halves, Dr. Duckor negotiated a contract with Heritage that placed this collection in the January 2011 FUN Platinum Night event. My report WAS accurate. Later, for reasons unrelated to numismatics, Dr. Duckor changed his mind and asked Heritage to modify their agreement and allow for his Barber halves to be auctioned in the August 2010 Platinum Night event at the ANA Convention in Boston. I will be writing more about Dr. Duckor’s Barber halves.
Adamlaneus, I am puzzled as to why an image of an 1856-O Double Eagle would inhibit your reading of my piece. Did you try clicking on the “print his article” tab and reading the printer-friendly version onscreen or literally printing it? In any case, I will be glad to e-mail articles, in other formats including large print versions, to anyone who has vision issues. Please PM me.
The picture of the $20 lib also distracted me. A coin that nice is bound to do so...
Another nice article Analyst... (now for my compliments I expect you to bump the Boyd 1870-s up a spot on the CC next time you do an article on that issue )
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

Yes.
Who is John Galt?
Looks like Dr. Duckor is selling off his
Barber Half Dollar collection next year
at the FUN convention in Tampa.
The article mentioned the set will be
on display at major shows in 2010.
I for one am looking forward to
view it at the ANA, Boston in August.

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
I look forward to reading his work.
Someday he should compile a book of his work.

YES....That's my final answer.
