Philadelphia fans are trash

When are we ever going to stop hearing about this stuff with these people.............................................

Philly fans trash Canadian's carEmail Print Comments1161 ESPN.com news services

PHILADELPHIA -- This, perhaps, was not the best way to treat a visitor.

When veteran Montreal hockey writer Pat Hickey went out to his car after Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals Sunday night, he found that fans had covered his car with trash, slashed one of the tires and stolen his Quebec license plates.

Curiously, they also ripped a bug guard off the front of the car, a 1999 Honda Accord with about 351,000 miles on it.

"Obviously it was a bit disturbing," Hickey told ESPN.com Tuesday morning, hours before the Flyers and Canadiens face off in Game 2 of the series. The Flyers lead the series 1-0 after crushing the Canadiens 6-0.

Hickey, one of the deans of Canadian sportswriting, has been covering hockey and baseball in Philadelphia for more than 20 years, and said he's never had any problems before.

"I'm a little surprised. A little disappointed," he said.

I am not from Philly, but you can pretty much find A-Hole fans in every city - but Philly seems to have more than the average city. It's a good thing Philadelphia won - otherwise, they might have torched his car.

I was on the subway there one time and this old lady was sitting across from me wearing a NE Patriots hat and everyone who walked by her was swearing and calling her every name in the book. And she was about 75. City of Brotherly love...I think not.

Interesting that when Philadelphia teams were losing, there weren't comments such as this. Jealosy rears its ugly head.

Anyone could Google it and find plenty of stories about sports fan mischief in any city. Case closed.

Like Oakland Raiders fans ganging up and pissing on a Browns fan in the stadium restroom? I agree, there are a-hole fans in every city, but some cities are "better at it" than others.

Yea, maybe it's debatable that Philly fans might be better at it, but a f*ing new thread almost every week about it?
  • I read once that Nebraska Cornhusker fans applaud the opposing team if they beat the Huskers in Lincoln, NE.

I've read that St. Louis Cardinal fans are some of the nicest people in baseball.

I'm sure there are plenty of decent Philadelphia sports fans, but why do I keep reading all these f-in stories
about Philly fans and their white trash attitudes ? Anyone care to explain ???

My uncle who passed away a few years ago refused to cheer for any Philadelphia teams mostly because of their fans so instead cheered for Baltimore, despite living a little over an hour from the Vet. I've experienced it in Tampa with the Flyers fans as well. Only hockey fans that were more obnoxious than the Flyer fans were Buffalo...

BTW, no jealousy or hate here. I enjoy Philadelphia and considered going to college up there but I'm just calling it how I see it. My dad tells me a ton of stories about going to the Vet and watching Steve Carlton and Lonborg pitch (he's not a Philly fan either though).

    Blah, blah, blah.

Cheap bastidge should have flown instead of driving.

But he just couldn't leave Quebec without the quarter pound of dope and steamer trunk full of berets and stinky cheese.

    Bring him back.

    We'll taze his azz mercilessly.

Why am I reading in my local paper once a week about the Boston Red Sox holding my county hostage for upwards of 100 million dollars for a new spring training facility when our county employees haven't had a raise in years and are on forced furloughs?

Why am I reading that on the same property the Feaxsox spent millions on a parcel of land and no one has yet to be told of it's use? Probably to be developed by the team as a business like a hotel or mixed use development providing the Crapsox with even more revenue at the hands of our county while they pay only 500,000 dollars per year to use the new facility.

Why am I reading that every economic impact study fails to prove that 6 weeks of loudmouth Baaasten cheapskates in my county will come close to paying for this facility?

Clean up the trash on your own side of the street. Until then STFU.

A French soccer player declined to go there to play because it is not, "a beautiful town." Funny thing is he has probably never stepped foot there.
