Does Anyone Else Care that the Boston ANA Awards Banquet is on Saturday AFTER the Show Ends?

The ANA Awards Banquet for the Boston World's Fair of Money is being held on Saturday evening AFTER the show ends:

ANA Awards Banquet
119th Anniversary Convention
Sheraton Boston Hotel
Saturday, August 14
7 p.m. Reception î 8 p.m. Dinner

I emailed the ANA and asked them about the timing of this event being AFTER the show closed when many people who were not already gone will be travelling home that evening. Their reply was: "The show closes at 5:30pm on August 14th. Unless someone is taking a late flight on Saturday evening it should not be a conflict."

I replied that many of us living on the West Coast will in deed be on a plane heading home that evening. I received no further response.

Just curious if many of you would have attended had the event been held on an earlier night?

That's why most dealers don't ever attend. Most of the attendees are the people who are representing the various coin clubs from around the country and the remaining balance are the people receiving awards.

If I was going and I was going to be there that night I would probably attend, but it's a moot point for me.

    I asked this same question.

It makes no sense to me to hold it on Saturday night.

I will be in Boston that night and wont go to the banquet because I have a early flight Sunday morning.

All of the years past the ANA did not like exhibiters to remove there exhibits early because the Best of Show was awarded Saturday night and wanted everyone to see the exhibit on Sunday.

Also what does everyone think about opening the show to the public for just a few hours on tuesday?

Isn't Boston only an easy train ride or a few hours drive from your location? If you miss this one it'll be a while before another one returns to the Northeast.

Maybe I am the wrong kind of collector....but I just don't "get" the end-of-show banquet concept. The ANA week is busy enough already without tacking on another event at the end. By Saturday it is time to go home.

Did you expect the ANA to actually care about non-dealers after reading the ANA directors letter?? image

Just chalk it up to another one of those things..... The powers to be in charge are clueless to the people in the real world and how it operates. They were smart enough to get the job, but running it is another issue. LOL
