When did they start doing this in the MLB?
I think it's pretty cool. Good way to get the home team guys an added psych boost.
On Saturday when Giants closer Brian Wilson took the mound in the 9th, instead of playing his standard intro music, they showed a live feed from the Preakness. He mentioned later that he was surprised that his home stadium pre-empted his intro for that. He went on to record a 39 pitch (but 0 run) 9th for the save.

Of course.

<< <i>In the late 90s, early 00s, the Giants had Robb Nen as their closer. He had a few seasons where he was a no-drama, slam-the-door closer. His intro music was Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water." I still remember that tune fondly. >>
Yep. It was the "bottom of the Nenth." Any time I hear that song now I picture Nen coming out of the warmup area and toward the mound.

Do you remember what was Rod Beck's intro music was? (I don't).

Hmmm...pornstache/mullet combo. I'll guess something very late 80s/early 90s metal. Warrant, Winger, Firehouse...something in that vein.
I think Mariano Rivera uses Enter Sandman, doesn't he?

Yup.
And at this concert it looks like Metallica used Marinao Rivera highlights as part of their song!
