So. Africa 1934 1d Error?

Strange things going on with this worn 1934 1d from So. Africa.

Perhaps some error experts might clear up my confusion?

Strange size-fractionally larger than it should be.
Strange marks-die clashes?
Strange thickness and rim- Broadstrike or planchet error?

"Strange days Indeed..."

Looks like it was compressed (note the rim), obliterating the relief of the coin.

Seriously, tho', it looks more like post-mint damage to me, rather like it was used to shim up a table leg or something, thereby receiving that curious squashing.

Yeah, I never thought about the compression factor...

It'll make a great skipping stone though.

I agree with Gary...it almost looks like whoever did it wanted the ship to be fully featured, where everything else was just a shadow, if at all left.
