1984 Reds Enquirer - Ever Seen One of These?

Hi - I collect Eric Davis cards and have noticed on a couple of master checklists (i.e. Beckett and Variety King's website) a 1984 Reds Enquirer card. I've never seen this card or any from this set? Have any of you ever heard of it or have a pic of one of the cards to share? Thanks.

These newspaper "clippings" measure about 2 1/2" by 4 1/4" when cut from the Cincinnati Enquirer Newspaper. Each day, a different member of the 1984 Reds was featured with some biographical information, his statistics as well as a brief biography. I know a local shop in cinci that has a few of these I'll see if Davis is one of them next time I'm up there.

  • sschauer, thanks for the info. Very helpful. If you can track one of these down, I'd definitely be interested. PM me if you like.

I actually picked up an entire set at the annual Moeller High School card show in Cincinnati.

I would think these would be hard to find complete as they were distributed one per day over the entire month of May 1984.

So does PSA grade these? I would think that if they grade pictures of Nolan Ryan, these should be a shoo-in.

I doubt they will grade them. PSA already said grading the Ryan clipping was a mistake and they will not be grading them anymore.

Well, they have been grading the 1970 Dayton Daily News cards for years and these are similar.

I submitted Perez in this set probably 3 years ago and they did not grade it then. They do change their sets they grade though over time.

I love stuff like that! Hard to find after the fact, but great if you were collecting them when they were new.
I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
  • Love the set! Especially the Davis card. If you still have the set and would consider selling it, please email me at ericdavisfan44@yahoo.com

I'm a Davis collector and would love to add it to my collection. Thanks!
