The officiating in this series has been terrible and the calls have mostly favored the Sharks. Some of the calls have seriously made me wonder... That being said, Detroit is still taking too many penalties and their D/Howard have made costly mistakes. The series has been close, but it's all over for the most part. Sad, but happy that they even made the playoffs considering where this team was at the halfway point of the season. Well done, Wings. See you all up here in Traverse soon.
Maybe, just maybe, the Sharks will avoid their annual flame out in the NHL Playoffs and actually compete for the Western Division Crown and maybe even the Stanley Cup.
If they bring home the Stanley Cup that would be very weird for the good citizens of No. Cal. A pro sports championship is something unknown to many folks around these here parts.
The title dought in the major pro sports around here is a long one [football - 49rs won the Superbowl about 15 years ago; baseball the A's won the World Series against the Giants in 1989, 21 years ago; basketball - the Warriors won the NBA title way back in 1975, 35 years ago; and hockey - never been done since the Sharkies arrived in San Jose].
This wasn't going to be the Wings' year anyway. The fact we made it to the playoffs is a miracle in itself considering we were battling for 3rd place most of the season..... Howard is a rookie and he will only get better! Nice Calder drive for the kid though!!

As mentioned, I agree that they were fortunate to make the playoffs but it could have easily been "their year". This team struggled for most of the season because of key injuries. When everyone got healthy after the Olympic break, they had the best record for the rest of the season. Howard was in the top-5 for most of the goalie statistical categories for the season, so there was no reason to think they couldn't go far. He's struggled in the playoffs, but the experience will be good for him regardless. But it's hard not to struggle when your team is on the PK for at least a third of each game. I'll still watch tonight and hope for a win. Hope the refs try to call one game a little more evenly. Go Wings!!!

Didn't say it was impossible, only that no team wants to be in that position.
