When you are crusing ebay and..

You see a coin you like and It is being sold with a BIN or Best offer.

The BIN is so outrageous that you wont even make an offer that you think is fair because you think it will be insulting, or do you go ahead and make the offer that you know is reasonable?

    Make the offer.
Generally the listers who are asking way, way too much have also built into their auction the auto reject for a bid they won't consider.

  • I usually pass it up. I have a friend who scored some really great rookie cards making a considerably low offer. So I may take a try next time I see something I like.

Make the offer, what have you got to lose?

Some people LOVE a bargain so I believe some sellers put high BIN so as to give these buyers the feeling they got the bargain.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

It is my experience that ebay buyers are not afraid to make low offers, often below melt. The seller may be expecting the low offer. --Jerry

Make a offer all they can do is say no.
On ebay or any where else for that matter.

Not quite true. They may choose to block you, which may prevent a later purchase on something else.
I have heard several people here say they block people who make low offers.

Foolish. I've made many sales to people who offered less than melt once I got them thinking about the right price. --Jerry

    MAKE THE OFFER

I will even ask a seller if they will take an offer on an auction that does not have the offer option.

All they can say is NO and call ya names but then you see what kind of person you might have been
    dealing with.

Some times they will come back with a fair to all counter offer. I just picked up a very nice 1938 Walker
    from a counter offer.

I like to tell low ballers that I would be buying more if I could get them at their offerred price.image

I don't bother. And when I see consistent ridiculous BIN prices or opening bids, I exclude the seller from my search and never see them again.

It depends. If you really like/need/want the coin, what's the harm in asking the seller if they will consider an offer?

If they say yes, make the offer.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
