So, for those who have experience with this, what's the process for correcting it? Does PSA pay to ship it back to me or will they try to charge me? How long does it typically take? Thx in advance
They ship it back to you free, and they will even give you a voucher to cover the cost of you sending it to them for correction. You have to ask for that though, they wont volunteer it.

That's been my experience as well. Mark the box as a mech error, and you should have it back in less than 2 weeks.
Ahhh the rare Graig Nettles/Johnny Bench variation; as you can obviously see the picture of Graig is accidently switched with that of Johnny Bench, you may notice that the name on the front is also that of Bench's which makes it that much harder to detect the variation. As you can see the color variation and all of the stats on the back will be the same as Bench which makes it near impossible for the casual collector to detect. Good thing PSA is filled with the most cunning experts in the field of sports grading and authentication so they were able to pick up on this rare gem instantly!
I'm thinking that if you consigned those to bbg, you could make some serious bank. If a very rare '78 Johnny Lemaster PSA 8 is worth $100.10, imagine what some of the cards pictured in this thread could bring. Zoinks!
I think these are great examples that we can sometimes put too much stock into what 3rd party graders say about our cards. I think that grading is very important to make sure that what you are buying is real and/or unaltered but sometimes we need to trust what we actually see. The graders are human and depending on the time of day or how they feel they can make big errors. I read here that sometimes there are full point swings on resubmits. I think that for what they charge us for grading they need to take their time and even have second opinions before sending them back.
My ten year old has a phrase he uses that is appropriate here "stupid people". Refering to the people doing the slabbing, not the posters in this thread.
