Added some gold to my collection.

A whopping 50 milligrams. A gold Bele from India.

Wouldn't mind having a few more of the tinier gold coins. I can actually afford them!
Anyways, thought it was a neat (and tiny as hell) coin, so I got me one. Anyone have a suggestion as for what type of holders to put these tiny things in? It's currently in a plastic case designed for a dime, and it's woefully over-adequate.

Those incuse, squarish punches actually look like some of the earliest archaic coinage from Greece and Asia Minor.
<< <i>I've had the Indian fanams, which are tiny, but I've not heard of bele.

I'm inclined to get a fanam sometime later as well. The bele was minted in the Vijayanagar Empire from 1336–1646. I think they're also known as 1/10 fanam.
