When did the grade of AU58 start being widely used........

I have collected nearly 100 Anacs photo certificates from 1980 to 1987 and have yet to see one with the grade of AU58. 50, 53, 55 and 60 but no 58.

    I remember the grade in the 1970s.
    BTW, grading did not begin when the TPG and plastic came around. Coins were still graded before, just way overgraded most of the time.

    True, but there were several grades not used back then that are used today, and likely as a result of TPG,s.
