Congratulations to Jkustelski, BMC/NEN winner!

Congratulations to the BMC/NEN giveaway winner Jkustelski!

LordM had posted the results on the trip website but I wanted to post it here as well and encourage folks who haven't,
to contribute and participate in our next giveaway.

Thanks again to all!image

  • Cool!
Thanks to Chris at NEN and our own Danglen for their generous giveaway contributions!
I have to say this is my first Albanian coin and the Mary Jane coin- well that's just one to have! image
There's still over $1000 to go to get this trip going so let's all get over this last hump so we can get Rob to England!

I did the drawing and posted the results over there, but I was at work (on graveyard shift in the wee hours), and suddenly the phone rang. I got sidetracked and never came over here to announce the winner.

Then when Laurent came back online and saw no update here, he did the drawing separately.

This could have been a sticky and potentially embarrassing situation, with two of us drawing two different winners for the same prize.

By a bizarre and fortuitous coincidence, however, we both came up with exactly the same winner! Not being terribly mathematical, I'm not sure what the odds of that were, but it's pretty apparent that JimK/Jkustelski was intended to win this drawing!

I used a random number generator to select from one of the 179 shares, thus weighting the drawing a bit more towards those who'd bought multiple shares. Laurent did it a little differently, selecting one of the 69 contributors, with all names having equal weight.

A 1 in 179 and a 1 in 69 drawing, both with the same result. How cool is that?

Edited to add my sincere appreciation for all this y'all are doing, and to NEN and Black Mountain Coins specifically. Thanks, y'all!

One of these days I might figure out what it was I did to deserve all of this, but until then I'll just be mystified and pleasantly surprised at the generosity of friends.

  • Rob,
I heard about this from Laurent this morning via PM. I was a little surprised as well and I thought- hey maybe I should've bought a lottery ticket. image
My take on this whole thing is: I think it'll be really cool when this happens and you actually do get to go to England, even if it is for the fun or it turns out to be the trip of a lifetime for you. You definitely are quite deserving.
I'm also looking forward to reading your daily diaries and hopefully something nice will turn up in the dirt- who knows!
But anyway, it'll be a good thing regardless!
    Thanks again,
    Jim
