Do you think this Gold $ has a tiny clip?

I just won this 1854 G$ and it appears to have a tiny clip at 7:00 on the obv. What do you think. Will I need to crack it out to be sure? Looks to be DDO also.

Sure looks like it to me, but SeanQ is our resident clip expert... I'd like to see what he says.

It appears there is a small clip there. You can also weakness in this area at 1100 on the reverse. Not sure if it helps or hurts the value of your coin. Anyone have an opinion on added value, if any? Neat coin.

As far as the doubling goes, from the pic it looks like mechanical doubling to me.

I cant see a clip, sometimes the denticles crumble a bit... Ive got a few which show an odd weakness at that 7 oclock area, maybe its a metal flow issue since it opposes a high point on the reverse with the wreath. What you see that looks like doubling, up near the top outer edges of the wreath, thats the Longacre doubling that you see pretty often on gold dollars.

its not the doubled die obverse, that shows with a doubled bottom row of beads on the headdress.

what I see is on both sides of the coin...

I also see some raised metal in that area that looks like some of the edge of the die has chipped away ...
maybe chipped both dies in that area that allows it to look like that on both sides.
