all reference to it seems to have disappeared from the Stack's website. I've never tracked a "Coin Galleries" auction before, so maybe this is standard procedure?

I might be wrong, but with their Coin Gallery Auctions, the internet bidding has a deadline along with mail-in and faxes. They close down their auction site at the deadline time, and when all the bids are reviewed and posted, they will open up the auction site again. This seems to have been their past "MO".
