1998 close am on eBay

Had to laugh at this quote from a seller on eBay in an auction for a 1998 Close AM proof cent:
"Everybody knows how strict the Quality Control is on Proof Coinage at the US Mint. It is amazing that this coin made it out the Door!!"
To be fair, any error on proof coinage IS unusual and prized for its scarcity. But IMO, it's mainly because of its limited die run. Mint quality control seldom comes to mind, even though they are supposedly inspecting these coins with a watchful eye.
I mean, how many times did we all open packages of Proof AGE, buffaloes, and platinum eagles sets, only to have them rolling around the cardboard box like a bunch of marbles??
Just a thought, and good luck to the seller on a neat coin...

I don't think the QC Inspector has a clue about wide am or close am differences on Proof coinage.
