This was a difficult one to judge. It's a 1909 penny with the dot by the N of ONE. To me it's a recent variety which I suspect is not too widely known. An example in Very Good sold at London Coins March auction for £330 ($480) plus commission. There was a lot of early bidding so I thought the game was up and others were on to it, obviously the seller was unaware of what they had. I decided the only way ahead was to put a stupid snipe on it as I had no idea what it's worth and also what are the chances are of seeing another in anything like this condition. Anyway I think no one else really knew what it was worth so I got it for about $110.
