  • Very interesting. Is that one converted into a stamp of some kind. I have seen a few examples similar to that ring, but the stamp i have not seen before. Pretty cool.

It looks like a button or cufflink?

Looks like a "pop out" coin or "push out" coin with a lot of wear.

The 1864 2c is a head-scratcher to me. The scuff marks could be a clue as to what it was used for. That is, if the scuff marks weren't there already when the 2c piece was fashioned like that.

The dime ring pop-out looks disturbingly reminiscent of Neo from The Matrix when the agents took away his mouth.

could the 1864 have been a tie clasp or cufflink or button?

the popout liberty dime sure looks like it has seen some wear
    but way cool

how do you decide what to offer for those?

Yeah I seriously think it is a home made press for sealing wax. Looks like the lettering is smoothed down and just the shield prominant. Take a look on wikipedia for sealing wax and there is a photo on there of a wax seal that clearly resembles what this device could do. Also it notes that sealing wax was in very common use during that period
  • Whatever they were for they are still pretty interesting and definately are a conversation piece!!
