Very interesting. Is that one converted into a stamp of some kind. I have seen a few examples similar to that ring, but the stamp i have not seen before. Pretty cool.

The 1864 2c is a head-scratcher to me. The scuff marks could be a clue as to what it was used for. That is, if the scuff marks weren't there already when the 2c piece was fashioned like that.
The dime ring pop-out looks disturbingly reminiscent of Neo from The Matrix when the agents took away his mouth.

Yeah I seriously think it is a home made press for sealing wax. Looks like the lettering is smoothed down and just the shield prominant. Take a look on wikipedia for sealing wax and there is a photo on there of a wax seal that clearly resembles what this device could do. Also it notes that sealing wax was in very common use during that period
