...why there isn't a photo of the slabbed coin. the description is there but not a photo. or am i expecting too

I think you will only see a pic if they purchased a true view image of the coin.

...if that's the case then one doesn't know, when purchasing the slabbed coin, whether or not a 'mark' on the coin was

on the coin when slabbed. if you follow my meaning.

Images came about a long time after PCGS started doing the certifaction numbers.

NGC posts a picture along with a cert number check, it was a pre-emptive counterfiet measure they started around a year ago. PCGS probably waited on that because they knew they had the SecurePlus in the wings. in the perfect world i guess both would be offered and then some, we just have to make do with what each service offers.
