Michigan State show report

Just a quick report from the Michigan State Show in Dearborn. First time at this show and sat at BLUCC's table for most of the show. Had more sales here than Santa Clara. The show was very busy on Friday, a little lighter on Saturday and pretty quiet on Sunday like most 3 day shows. However, unlike many 3 days shows most of the dealers stayed for Sunday. Met lots of very nice people including some forum members who had indicated in earlier threads that they would be there. A pleasure to meet all of you.
The show was very professionally run, lots of pages, plenty of dealers and a good variety of most coins were available. Some excellent exhibits were set up in an adjacent room. I had brought along a bunch of Carson City GSa's to sell thinking that they would be less common here. Wrong,, there ewre lots available and most at excellent prices so will be returning with more than I brought, including a couple more in the 1882 cc vam 2 series. Also picked up a couple older ANACS rim toners.
Summary, great show, great people and everyone said the fall show is even better.

Nice report Roger. It was nice talking to you and Todd, Hope to see you again some day.
Sorry but, paying melt for my item just didn't cut it.
Charmy, the fall show IS better.
Brian
Charmy,, no change noticed.....
Brian G,,, yep, I really needed a couple more.
Todd's enthusiam and passion shows throughout his work. I throughly enjoyed my time spent with Blue62vette and he photographed two of my recent purchases. Todd had a few photo's of Gregg Bingham's (my mentor) coins and my jaw hit the floor when I saw his 1883 Trade Dollar in 66. It has Morgan-like colors and the photo literally made me weak in the knees. My favorite moment of the show was watching Todd trying to buy some Morgan's from Barry Cohen. It was like a science experiment
The show itself was well attended but pales in comparison to the Fall Michigan Show which is truly a great regional event. My personal highlight was viewing a 1000 oz+ Spanish shipwreck silver bar. On the bourse---- lots of bullion, shiney Morgan's as well as the usual smattering of rainbow Morgans in 64 holders. My single favorite coin was a 1865 No Motto half in a PCGS 66 OGH. It was fresh to the market after 20 years and had great color. I tried to give it my personal sticker but the dealer told me to beat it
Saw lots of friends and made lots of new ones. I was able to spend some quality time with Ron Sirna which was pretty pretty cool. Quick shout out to Paul/ Commencents- great to met you............
I don't get to attend many shows due to my travel schedule so I treasure the ones I can get to. This one being no exception. I encourage all then can to try to get to the November Michigan Show and I think you would be shocked by the great attendence and people willing to part with their hard earned money.............
All the best............MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Much to my surprise my coin sales were better than the past couple shows, way better. I sold all of my bullion so I don't have to lug that back to California, also sold several coins. I never care if I sell coins so this means more money to spend on coins. Photography went quite well at the show. I imaged some real cool pieces and brought back about 250 coins to where I am staying to image over the next couple days. Met lots of nice people coming by the table asking questions and looking confused about the photography. I don't think that has been to the show before and people seem intrigued.
Great ice cream.
I didn't buy much, as MJ mentioned in the above science experiment. The items I saw that I wanted I did not need so the prevented me from paying more than if I needed the coins. All in all a real good time.
