What Barber Half goes around, comes around

So...

Tonight I felt like registering my mid grade Barber Half set ATS... just for the heck of it.

Anyhow, as a background... I got hooked on these from Larry Greenstone (SeaEagleCoins) and one of the very first two coins that I bought, from Larry, was a nice VF30 1899-P Half. In fact, it was THE first. Anyhow, flash forward close to a year, the set is basically complete, and my friend Mike (MFH) has been a huge help and all around great guy in helping me put this set together.

So one of the coins pops up as being in someone else's inventory.. turns out it was Mike and he forgot that he even owned it. Apparently he had sold the coin years ago, yet it somehow ended up at the Parsippany show in New Jersey.

Funny how that happens....

You guys are becoming to Barber Halves what the EAC diehards are to nice large cents....where a coin goes from famous collector X after many years to Tom Reynolds, who then sells it to famous collector Y who will hold it for many years. Next we'll be seeing pedigree listings for VF/XF Barber halves that come to market image Just kidding - anyway, a good story involving a lot of good Barber guys.

That 1899-P must have come out of the first VF/XF
sets of Barber Halves I put together. I ended up selling
that set shortly before I bought my 1901-S Quarter.

Its odd that that the coin was still registered to me
as I had deleted it from my sets. ATS, they have a
double deletion process, you have to reconfirm that the
coin is deleted; guess I missed that process.

Glad to see that RLD14 has come along so well and
so quickly. I know I'm looking forward to his next Barber
collection, the Quarters. Have no fear of my having owned
    those in under AU 53.
