But you still have another $4,500.00 to spend!!!!! LOL

I don't know a lot about that set, but IMO it was a nice buy. Don't think you can go wrong with that price.

    Enjoy the cards!!!!!!!
    STAY HEALTHY!

    I like it!

I looked at the enlarged scans of the pictured HOFers, and they all look decent. I think you did well image

Thanks for the comments, I expected this set to go for at least 25% more than it did, honestly did not expect to win this auction, but am excited none the less. It's always a RUSH to get an old set of cards and thumb through one by one.image

'60 card guy, I almost competed to bid for that set myself, I received extra scans of other cards from the seller and they looked solid.
You did ok, the last mid grade '52 set sold through an auction house last year for $3500.

There is one on REA currently that might reach that price point.

Beautiful set, I will have one to call my own hopefully soon.

2 ways to look at it... Fun or Investment

Most of the fun in set collecting is the building part, and you skipped this.

Otherwise at $12 a card and 10% HOFers, its not a bad price, especially compared to many common modern 1960's Topps sets that NOW often sell for more.

Are you planning on breaking it up to flip (ie. bought it for an investment) ?

I can remember when you could buy a VG T206 set minus big 4 for $3-4K, and break and flip to double your $$.

Buying sets in bulk and breaking them up is a good way to make a little cash image

I looked at it as well. I actually thought it went high as 52's have really softened in the last couple of years. Having the Mantle in a five is the only reason I would have bid on it. I thought 2500 to 2700 would be the max.

I don't get why people don't like this set more.

I understand why people don't like 54 or 55 Bowmans, but 48-53 Bowmans are outstanding IMO.

    Nice purchase.

I would take any of the Bowman sets from 48-55. As a matter of fact I have always wanted to do a 55 Bowman set but just have not had the money to even try and attempt that. I think all of the Bowman sets from back then are quality sets and would be proud to own any one of them!

Nice set, I love looking at a raw set like that where the cards are clean but you don't have to be afraid to touch them carefully.

I think you got a good deal.
