So, I buy two 1980 Topps Cello packs....

For $16/each at a local store. (I know, big spender)...Anyway, the first has Jim Rice on top, and after that, there was nothing but commons. The next pack I open, two cards in, Jim Rice.....Yep, that's right, same sequence. So, out of the 50 cards, 46 were the same.

Bummer.

Too bad Henderson wasn't in that same sequence!

  • Yeah, I was hoping for a nice grade Henderson to fill out my set. Should have saved the money and just bought one.

But it's always more fun to pull one from a pack! Good luck next time, if you try again!

You may want to see if some of those commons are dead centered and sharp and then check the POP reports. Some of those commons in a POP1 or POP2 PSA 10 can get you $50 to $100. Shane Rawley sold for $100 recently while some HOFers are in the 20-30 range.

Congrats. I was heavy into the 1980 stuff for a while and know that was a real tough one that only recently became a POP1. Still, plenty of commons with no PSA 10s so commons from 1980 aren't necessarily throwaways.
