Does anyone else check out 1861 gold dollars with holes...

Does anyone else look at 1861 gold dollars with holes looking for an undocumented 1861-D knowing the obverse diagnostics?

So far, no luck, but I keep trying...

what do you need to know? There are diagnostics.... It's impossible to confuse a phila coin with the D mint

Other than the typical poor quality and mushy strike, are there any other Dahlonega mint diagnostics?

UN and ICA are very weakly impressed. The D mintmark is smaller in size than on any other D mint GD.

Would PCGS slab a holed 1861-D in a genuine holder if the mintmark was removed when it was holed based strictly on weakness in the strike?image

Ngc slabbed one with a missing date which was ground off to Add /remove a mount. The MM size tells the date. As I understand pcgs dosent slab holed coins

Really? Not even in the "Genuine" holder? So much for my holey 1851 (-C?) we've been discussing, if that's the case.

I look at all holed Gold Dollars for unnoticed mintmarks. There are several bidders on eBay doing the same thing. I haven't been lucky enough to be the only suspecting bidder on one yet. D, especially, is noticeable from decent pictures. The O's are the ones I usually find and they are not too special.
