A big thanks to Baseball Card Exchange and Steve Hart, SCANS ADDED.

I had bought a lot of unopened stuff from BBCE in the past and always been satisfied. This past week I bought a complete '67 Topps set advertised as EX-EX/MT from them for a discounted price of $1800. I just got it in the mail today and EX/MT is conservative to say the least. I would actually say that the majority of the cards are NM or better judging from the 120+ '67 graded cards I have. The star cards are absolutely gorgeous for the most part. I'll try to get some scans up later tonight. Anyway, a big thanks to one of the best sellers out there.

<< <i>Steve, I respect your opinion, but you don't have the cards in hand. The last batch of 57 '67's I sent in got all 7's and 8's and some of these are as nice as those. The Mantle is a really nice 6 and would be 8 if not for centering, The Mays is an 8, The Belanger and Carew Rookies are probably 7's, The B. Robinson and Colavito are centered 6's, The Mathews/Stargell/Kaline/Gibson/and Leaders cards are solid 7's. If I hadn't been sending in hundreds of vintage cards over the past 2 years then I would agree that the set seems too good for the price I paid, but they are. >>
I hope you're right. But don't forget that Steve actively sells PSA graded cards, and I doubt very much if he would "throw in" a PSA 8 Mays in a set advertised as EX-EXMT. Frankly, the set in my view is typical of an "ebay vintage set" to a large extent from a respectable dealer - the key cards are OC or at the low end of the grading spectrum as advertised, and some commons could be at the high end of the advertised grade.
Again, it's a nice set, but Steve isn't in the habit of giving money away - if the set was as you described "NM or better" there would be no reason whatsoever why Steve wouldn't have advertised it that way on ebay or on his website. In any event, good luck if you get some of the cards graded - I sincerely hope the Mays is a PSA 8.
If the set had been all VG cards then I would have been very dissatisfied as would the majority here. In fact, most would have started a thread about it. So I start a thread praising a seller and have someone downgrading it when they don't even have the cards in hand, lol. Good comedy.
<< <i>I didn't say it was a NM or better set. I said that the majority of the cards look NM or better as oppose to EX-EX/MT. I'm pretty dead on when it comes to grading myself and I've bought and sold a ton of high end vintage over the last couple of years. Not to mention the fact that every raw card or set I've sold on ebay or on the BST board here has gotten great feedback, and I've sold at least 50 completely raw sets from '79 or earlier on here or ebay.

Here below is your own comment on the Seaver that you had in hand which came back a PSA 6, posted in one of your threads - like many out there, they tend to overgrade their own cards...and in my opinion you are overgrading this set...Steve from BBCE had it graded and advertised correctly.
"Received card today and I'm very pleased. Card has no wrinkles or any hidden flaws that I might have expected. It measures perfectly with the other '67's I have. I sampled it against a random 8-10 cards. I think it will definitely 6 or 6.5 and has a shot at a 7 on a good day."
the cards look sweet to me. Nice pickup.
+1 BBCE too
RIP GURU

<< <i>lmao, you just made my point. The card graded a 6 which is exactly what I said it would grade. "definitely 6 or 6.5 with a shot at a 7 on a good day". Ask the guy who just bought it from me what he thinks about it when he gets it. It looks nicer than any 6 you'll ever see.

Allright, don't have a heart attack okay? - I wished you "good luck" on the grades so post a scan of the Mays if you get it graded and we'll see what it receives. If it comes back a PSA 8, I'll toast to your good fortune. LOL
Cingrats on the pickup.
<< <i>Nice set, are you getting them all graded or will it be mostly raw?
Cingrats on the pickup.
Thanks. I bought it because I thought it was a good buy and because it can help fill in a few holes/upgrades I need for my #1 set which features 120+ graded cards right now including PSA 7 Seaver, Mantle, Carew, Robinson, Clemente, Rose, Yaz, Killebrew, PSA 8 Mays, Cash, and a ton of high number 7 and 8's. I will probably complete it in raw after I've completed my #1 set. I'd like to get some of them graded, especially the ones that would enhance it a lot like the stars/high numbers. We'll see.
I weighed the prospects of finishing my first set a couple at a time, but I'd be shooting myself in the foot as hard as it is to win an auction for VCP right now on any '67's. I saw this set and inquired about a discount and it worked out better than I'd expected. Like I said, kudos to BBCE.
How is the Hank aaron? Mantle looks like a Psa 8 oc or a straight psa 6ish...

since i'm already well aware of your purpose in accumulating these 67s, it looks like you got yourself a great group of cards to upgrade and improve your set.....the set break value, even below near mint condition, should make this a smart buy.....take a fistful of those high number extras to eBay and sell 'em raw and you'll get a nice return, i doubt Steve would bother selling cards like that one by one, but there's money to be made that way.
LMK if there's still any others you're looking for & good luck.
