questions on intercept shields

....i saw these and wondered. do the slab

holder boxes with the windows that show the coin contain the protective chemical inside? or is the chemical only in the

box that holds the windowed slab holders? or both? and how long does the protection last on average? thanks. image

    Protection is on both. Can't answer the length of protection issue.

    I use them, but the Intercept Shield containers won't save a coin that is starting to turn in the slab. I also take other precautions: use silica gel or drierite in the storage area, keep rubber bands and velvet products FAR away. I read somewhere that they should last several years, at lest. When the liner turns black, replace it. You could also add a few loose, new cents to the storage area---these should also act as sacrificial agents and intercept gases that tone coins.

    Yes, both. They're good for roughly 10 years, IIRC.
