To plus or not to plus........

Both of these coins just recently graded under a regular submission. (not evaluated for the plus designation) I was thinking of sending one of them in under the quarterly special. Which coin do you think has the best shot of plussing if either.

Would you crack first or submit in the holders?

<< <i>I've been thinking the same thing...I have a PCGS coin that I was going to send in for SP, but I'm not sure if I should crack it first or send it in the holder. The coin was holdered 15 years ago...I've always felt it had a chance to upgrade.

Don't crack it. If it deserves a plus or upgrade PCGS will make it so. Avoid the risk with raw coins.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Why take the chance with cracking it? Good advice, Lance, thanks.
Quarter 10%
1917......71 graded at 66FB, 14 graded at 67FB and 0 graded at 68FB
1934......77 graded at 67 and 1 graded at 68.
Based on the fact that only that only 1 1934 medium motto has graded 68, I would be willing to bet that the 77 coins graded 67 is considerably over-inflated and a fair amount of those 67's have been counted more than once as coins have been cracked and re-submitted numerous times looking for that 68 grade.
<< <i>Based on what I've been seeing, neither. Still both great coins. >>
That is a really nice coin
The best advice is this, if the coin seems much nicer then most of its grade
and the difference in value is at least 10X your grading cost, take your shot at it.
By the way, I really like the 1934 Quarter.
