1862 $1 US Gold Coin help needed please

I'm doing an evaluation of a bunch of coins for a 70 year old woman whose husband has passed on. The coins were his and she needs some help. I have evaluated all of the modern coins (silvers, morgans, buffalos, etc.) but I am out of my league on us gold coins. It was in a little box with some other coins.

First off, I'd look at the edge reeding - look for strong, even reeds; then, I'd check the dentils - again, look for strong, even dentils.
The coin should weigh 1.672 grams and it should have a diameter of 15 mm.
