Do you think the new Nashville show May 20–22, 2010 is going to worth going to?

I was talking to general manager David Crenshaw last week, and he said that dealer tables are already sold out. That seems like a positive sign. Will dealers be bringing good material to the show? Will fresh coins and currency be coming into the show from collectors and the general public? That remains to be seen. At the Whitman Baltimore Expo last month, Jeff Garrett noted that “activity in general was brisk for nice coins.” He observed, though, that after gold’s remarkable run over the past few years—and the resulting rush of “fresh” coins into the marketplace—today’s market pales a bit in comparison. “Now,” he said, “even some marginal coins are selling, to fill customer orders.” He reported that his tables on the bourse usually had at least two customers looking through the cases. “Getting around the floor to visit other dealers can be difficult,” he said, “but it’s a wonderful problem to have.” Q. David Bowers at the same Baltimore show said, "Those who enjoy coins are buying with great enthusiasm.” Using Baltimore as a benchmark for Nashville suggests it will be a good show for dealers if they have nice inventory, and, on the flip side of the coin, a good show for collectors.

The show is being heavily promoted and most of the dealers on the convention tour circuit are planning to attend. There hasn't been a show in Nashville before so for dealers it's probably worth attending at least once.

I'll be there. Based on the dealer list at whitmanexpo.com it looks like a winner.
Buying Athens, GA nationals and obsoletes, for my personal collection
Buying most large and small type notes and some nationals for inventory
  • Wow! That's great! Too bad they did'nt have something like that before I moved away. The Gallatin show was about all I ever saw there and it was ok, but small.

I still can't believe a city the size of Nashville doesn't have more coin stores/shows. I lived there 6 and 1/2 years and only found one coin store worth visiting (The Coin Purse - Green Hills).

This is good news to collectors in the TN/KY area!

The buzz I've heard is that it will be a good show. The show circuit starts to slow down in May, so it will be nice to have a big show like this just before the summer begins. I have a table there and look forward to attending.

I used to live in Nashville and am excited to go back for the first time in 25 years. I think it will be a great show. The people in Nashville are super friendly. Atlanta was OK, but the collectors seemed to start to take it for granted. Maybe Whitman can switch out Nashville for Atlanta once every four years.
