Yikes! Good for you. That's very cool.

So...how about a photo of the reverse?

Jefferson Errors are my favorite denomination for errors because they can get really deformed.

That is a super delux model...Super nice, I love itimage It would be nice to see the other side, wouldn't it?

I think this model was the same one that was listed for $50K at one time a while back. The question is... is the price an actual bid, or the reserve waiting for a bidder?

And now, a little history on the coin.

And if the link fails, do a search at Heritage archives with, 1942-D 5C D Over Horizontal D MS64 PCGS ,lot 386.

The coin actually upgraded from MS64 to MS65 5FS?

I find Jeffersons fun things to collect, but I don't love them.
    When in doubt, don't.

And now for a little more history. These were the photos taken minutes after removing the d/d from a 2x2. I had cherrypicked the coin at the Georgia State show in Dalton, GA. Shag

And the Dalton show is also going on this weekend. What else are you going to snag there Shag? What an incredible cherrypick! Knowing you cherry picked this from a 2X2 would it be reasonable to believe there are several yet undiscovered ones left?
I feel sure this is the same coin as your picture even though it has toned up quite a bit since then. The hit to the top left off the C on the reverse was the best match I could find, but since it was your coin I know you would recognize it anywhere.

Here is reverse. Again copied from DLRC site where the aution is current.

Don't love them- never will- but they are fun to look for if you don't take all that goes with the series too serious.

Since you had the coin, does it appear that it may have been doctored up? From Heritages photos, the two charcoal pics, the coin looks it has been played with twice.

i enjoy the series and feel this particular variety is especially tough above XF, but judging solely from the online pictures i don't feel the "FS" designation warrants the steep price for this coin. paying premiums for LDS coins with indistinct step detail isn't how i'd want to move my collection forward. i would feel comfortable paying the MS64 price but nothing more.

JMHO to be taken w/a grain of salt.

quickwing, I figured when I found it that it was a once in a lifetime event. Couldn't attend the Dalton show this weekend due to family events. You can still cherrypick rare stuff
out there! Two years ago at the FUN show, I found what is the only 1911-d/d FS-503 Lincoln that has been graded by PCGS. It's the thrill of the hunt. Shag

I'll tag along with keets on this one. I'll take an MS64 for the money over big bucks for this no-FS NGC.

I will say that Shag had the big snag on this one! Man, this is the dream 2x2 cherry in the Jefferson series. I was able to see the coin a couple time as it made it's way through a couple dealers and auctions. You know why it's still in an NGC holder!

I love Jeffersons, and one of these days I'll own an MS example of the 1942-D / Hor D!

Now, find me one of these! 1963 TDR FS-37.3
