Anyone bust a case of 2008 Topps Chrome football?

Has anyone busted a 2008 Topps Chrome football case lately? I've opened blasters and the hit value was excellent, I'm wondering if the hobby boxes are just as good.

I opened like 10 boxes of 08. They had the box topper pack so you get one bonus card per box which they didn't do in 2009. You get like 1 Copper Refractor per box and 3 to 5 regulars. You also get one auto per box but sometimes your box topper could be autographed as well. Some box toppers are superfractors or 1 of 1's.

Compared to retail you don't get as many refractor hits but your guranteed 1 auto and the box topper.

In 2008 I opened 25 blasters and never pulled 1 auto so its safe to say if your hunting a Chris Johnson auto you only get it in hobby.

Thank Morgoth. I do recall getting a lot of refractors in the blasters.

Thanks looks like I'm getting the Topps.....unless you think the Bowman Chrome is better.

You like the rookie mix in 2008 better than in 2009? Really?!!? Did you watch football in 2009? That was the most productive rookie class in years, particularly defensively.

Buy your Ray Rice, Chris Johnson, and DeSean Jackson cards as singles. Then go buy boxes of 2009.

Either way, be sure to come back and post pics of the hits! image

    Hallmark,

I did go back and forth between the two rookie classes. I finally decided on 2008. in part due to the rookie class and the lower cost.

I think the 2009 class is slightly better at the QB position with Stafford and Sanchez, but I do think Matt Ryan is the best QB in either class. The second tier of QBs such as Henne in 2008 and Freeman in 2009 is basically equal at this point.

The 2008 RB class is much better than the 2009 class. The 2008 class also has more depth - Johnson, Rice, Stewart, Felix Jones, Mendenhall, Charles, Slaton, and McFadden (if he ever pans out). This is probably the most volatile aspect since RBs can go bust at any time.

The 2009 WR class has much more potential than the 2008 class. DeSean Jackson is the best WR so far, but I see a bunch of #2 guys after him. Heyward-Bey and Crabtree really didn't get a chance, but there are a bunch of potential #1 WRs after them.

As for the defensive rookies, I generally don't see many defensive stars making a hobby impact. Unless there is a Urlacher or Revis break out, defensive players get overlooked. which is too bad. I thought AJ Hawk would become a hobby star, but he hasn't panned out yet. That is why I am staying away from the 2010 class. The 3 of the top 5 best players are defensive, 2 linemen and a safety.

Anyways, has anyone dealt with Atlanta Sportscards on unopened cases? Blowout didn't have any 2008 chrome in stock.

I always pick Topps over Bowman chrome. Collectors love the Topps Chrome RC's and autos much more than Bowman for whatever reason. In terms of value they are the same set with different refractor colors.

If anyone ends up getting a case and wants to get rid any the base rookies.. I would be interested in Ryan, Rice, charles and mcfadden.. They are common on ebay but I figured I would give it a shot and save on shipping if I buy them all from the same person.
    Thanks

<< <i>I'm probably the King of resurrecting my old threads, but with the hot starts of Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, I'm looking to buy another case of 2008 Topps Chrome Football. The first case I bought was a great bust. I pulled two, yes 2, Matt Ryan Auto RC Refractors (#/50) in consecutive boxes. I got 14 autos, 2 boxes had an extra auto, including Forte, J. Charles, Jordy Nelson, and Ray Rice.

The last case I got was around $600, I see that they are $790 on Blowout, anyone know where I can get a better price? >>

Big T has them for around the same price. 08 chrome
