It is still somewhat ironic that a tax system that many consider oppresive for one reason or another uses as its due date the anniversary of his death.

My first job with the National Park Service was at Ford's Theatre and the House where Lincoln Died. I worked there for 5 years telling the story. When pay day came, I would walk around the corner where a coin shop was located in front of my bus stop and put Lincoln cents on layaway.
