The OFFICIAL 2010 New York Yankees going "back to back and belly to belly" thread

If you are in the NYC area and ever listened to the Yankee games on the radio, then the title of the thread will make sense to you.

I don't know where Dan (softparade) is, so I guess I'll take the reigns for this year's thread.

I never said anything about Sterling being a great announcer. image I just said you would recognize the quote.

Would be nice to see a strong start out of Hughes tonight. Something like 7 innings and only 2 or 3 runs.

Not the 7 innings I was looking for (only 5), but still a good start by Hughes. The longballs were nice to see, especially 2 by Cano who is red hot. Hopefully CC can keep the train running in the right direction tonight against Texas.

Very strong outing by CC last night (although shortened by rain), and Jeter and Cano both extend their hitting streaks to 10 games. Cant wait for the heart of the order to start hitting. AJ tries to make the Yanks 8 and 3 today.

Do they serve beer in the bleachers at the new stadium? I would hope another championship would at least bring that. image

  • did CC put on an extra 50lbs over the winter? he pitched great though!

Another great game yesterday, so now we're tied for 1st place with Tampa Bay at 8 and 3. Jeter is red hot and Arod got his first HR of 2010 out of the way. Looking for Andy Pettitte to complete the sweep of the Rangers today, then a day off before heading out on the first of our three west coast trips this year.

Mike - Never give the bleacher creatures beer.

ShawnyD - He keep winning, and we keep letting his pants out.

A well deserved day of for the boys tomorrow. Pettitte did a great job, and Tex's HR might be just what he needs to get rolling offensively. We're 9 and 3 now, and looks like still tied for first since Tampa Bay is beating Boston again today.

I check in once in a blue moon. You will be talking to yourself alot in this thread. Overall, and surely from a NY perspective, this is a really bad sports forum.

Let's see if Javier Vasquez can get himself straightened out as we look for our 5th win in a row tonight. I know winning at a .750 clip wont continue, but it sure is nice. image

Yanks only managed 5 hits last night, but used them right to turn them into 7 runs (the 10 walks really helped), and earned their 10th win of the season. Vasquez seemed a little betting this time out, and Arod helped him out with his 2nd HR of the season. Tampa finally lost, so now the Yankees are in 1st by themselves. Tonight Phil Hughes tries to give them their 6th win in a row.

Phil Hughes looked great last night taking a no hitter into the 8th inning, and then after Joba did his job Mariano notched his 6th save. The record is 11 and 3 now and CC tries for our 7th win in a row this afternoon. Except for Vasquez the starting pitching has been spectacular, and its like each starter wants to top what the last starter did.

One bad inning by CC (complete game and only 97 pitches), but sometimes that's all it takes. The bright spots in the 4 - 2 loss were a couple of solo HRs (Thames & Teixeira) and a nice triple play around the horn started by Arod. Now on to to play the Angels where hopefully AJ can get us back to winning.

The Angels took 2 out of 3 over the weekend, and now its on to Baltimore. Most teams wake up against the Yankees, but I hope that wont be the case with the Orioles. Cant say enough about how well Andy Pettitte is pitching. If we can take 2 out of 3 from the O's that would be a 5 and 4 road trip that included 2 west coast stops, so not too bad at all.

Lets hope they keep playing they way they are. It's been rough with all the injuries lately...

2-2 bottom of the 13th good game so far...
