Eddie Mathews 50 year old record was broken by Pujols 371st HR last night, most for the first 10 years of a career...

    OMG, can you imagine if he really won the Triple Crown. Then there would be no question as to his status in baseball lore. I wish him luck.

    The only other hitter in baseball history I can equate to Pujols is Jimmie Foxx. He's the only other strictly right-handed batter I can think of who was as consistent a threat to win the Triple Crown year after year.

  • I have to give Albert his due. Could he be a cheater? Sure. But, I have no knowledge of it, nor has anyone ever laid claim to serious information about it. So, he gets a pass as far as I am concerned. Yes, Albert has played several years during excellent offensive trends. But this year isn't one of them, and Albert is still producing. And if we compare to the great Jimmie Foxx, let us not forget that Mr Foxx wasn't smacking his homers in the deadball era.
