2004 Edgar Renteria Auto GU Lousivlle Slugger PSA/DNA

One of my pickups the last month. From Renteria's 2004 Al-Star season.
The bat came with a PSA DNA auto photo letter COA, a PSA DNA photo letter for bat and a letter from Ball Park Heroes.
The PSA DNA bat letter notes:
"Lousivlle Slugger model R205 Edgar Renteria professional model bat is un-cracked and shows evidence of outstanding use. Slight checking (grain swelling) from repeated ball contact is visible on all sides of the barrel. Ball marks include blue knk transfers and white leather scuffs. Cleat marks are visible on the right, left and back barrel and there is a light coat of Mota stick on the upper handle. '3X' is writen on the knob in black marker. The lenght and weight are also written on the knob, but have been covered with the PSA/DNA sticker. An Edgar Renteria signature and his number '3' are on the front barrel in silver marker. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and their sticker (J31200) is affixed to the knob."
The letter further states "The number written on the knob appears to have been marked over, indicating a possible alteration to a player number. After a thorough examination of this Edgar Renteria professional model bat, and its player use characteristiscs, it is our option the bat is authentic. Due to the knob notation, the bat's use by Renteria cannot be confirmed."
Not sure exactly what PSA/DNA means. It appears to me he wrote "3 X" which you can find on all his bats from that period (seach Google), and as you can see in the close up of the knob, I can't see any previous number wrote over.

Clear Skies,
Mark

<< <i>Nice bat but it seems PSA cant authentic it as being used by Renteria himself although they say it's game used. Personally, I hope Renteria can make it to 3000 hits. >>
But that is because they can't Google :^). I fould two bats and a few photos that show the "3 X" at the end of his barrol from his Cardinal days before I picked it up. I can't imagine what number could fit under the 3X, as per COA.
Not a complaint with PSA DNA....they likely could not find reference at the time. The detail on their COA is very good.
