PCGS Photograde HD

I picked up an iPad on launch day and in playing around with it discovered PCGS also launched an HD of their popular Photograde application. I had in installed on my iPhone a few weeks ago when it was released and announced here, and although it is a sweet app and I'm sure much work went into it, on the smaller screen it was a bit difficult to take advantage of all the features.

Now, this High Definition app for the iPad is simply incredible! I'm more than surprised at the sharpness of the photos and the ultra strong distinction between the grades.
The topper is although many developers are taking advantage of the new platform introduced by Apple- and that is reflected in the prices charged, PCGS has kept this app free.
Kudos to PCGS! It is not many businesses that would devote such time and energy into a project strictly for the benefit of their clients and do so at no charge.

  • I picked up an iPad on launch day too, but I wasn't aware that PCGS had released another version of Photograde. Just downloaded Photograde HD, and it beats the crap out of the iPhone app.

    I agree.
Before, on the iPhone it was the concept that was exceptional. Now it is the app itself.

On a side note: Check out Elements iPad app. (Coin related in the sense it breaks down the various earthly elements such as copper; nickel; silver, and gold.)
It'll knock you over with its detail and vision.

can the app flip back and forth between two images (say an obverse of some coin at XF-40 and XF-45)? You know, so a fella can flip back and forth a dozen time to look for the differences?

I have an iTouch and use the photograde application on it. I like having that reference EVERYWHERE I go. NICE JOB THERE PCGS!

How's the wifi on the iPads? I heard Apple was having some trouble with that. What's the story there?

  • I'm waiting for the 3G version.........

That sounds great. I wish I could justify buying one.
