It would be fun...

...in this day of several top grading companies, the what - second or third party opinions like CAC, the plusses and stars - to walk into a B&M or show with nice quality coins, Proof Walkers and so on, and offer to sell them in the slabs - with the grade/barcode and plus/star/sticker or lack thereof covered with duct tape? Just a thought.

Best,
Eric

No problem, go to some dealers, you will get blue sheet. Take the tape off
and you will be offered blue sheet. Argue and you get told that you are stupid.
Ask for a second opinion and you are told, you are ugly too.A handful of dealers
who frequent these boards on the other hand, will offer you fair prices with or
    without the tape.

    Hi Bear,

True, I guess I should have said "clearly PQ" coins. Not that it would make much difference.

  • Give it a try and let us know how it turns out.......

If you realy want to make it interesting go to a place you've never been, carry the coins in a brown paper bag and start off the conversation with I inherited some coins and know nothing about them, are they worth anything?

I bet I've given a way 20 redbooks over the years from conversations that started off that way.

If you cover the grades on the slabs, the dealer will assume that you are just playing games with him and you are just wasting his time.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
