link to coin

The marks in front of Libery's mouth-under the neck and behind the neck are die polish marks that can be found on other 23-d's Ive seen.

This particular coin has to many cracks and I cant seem to be sure which vam it is.

thanks for the help

The cracks are common and I am pretty sure that the "polish" is a trick of the lighting and the angle. Its a nice coin but a I don't thing there is a value added VAm for it. Also it looks a little chattery to make 66 at PCGS IMO

The polish is not a trick of lighting as I have seen at least 2 others with the same polish lines.

    Just for fun:
Here's another 1923-D with polishing. Typical uncirculated with faint cracks matching the auction coin. Possibly the same die as the auction coin, only earlier in use.

Seems like it might be a new die variety, since there are several examples known. [VAMpires! Do multiple coins with the same polishing constitute a new VAM variety? image ]

PS: Just got a better image of the auction coin. Cracks are similar as is the polishing; however, there are differences suggesting to me that the two coins are from different dies.

Up to $3,200 ! That's more than my car is worth (with a full tank of gas).
