    most people say yes

some say will turn into ?carbonic acid? if longterm exposure
I kept a copper coin in an acetone jar for 3 months, and clear acetone had this green tinge I had never seen before
    with half day soaks

and if the PVC has already started etching, you will still have pits
  • It is very light but on an 1853 half cent. Should've gone MS64BN but got BB'd for 94 "altered surfaces."

Can't hurt to try a soak and see if it comes off.

When it comes to coins, acetone is as safe as water. The real question is, is it PVC or verdigris?

If the coin has active pvc you have nothing to lose by trying.

if PVC was the only problem causing the BB, it would have gotten code 99 for PVC residue. So I suspect your coin has issues other than the PVC you believe you see.
